Post-Doc
I was born and raised in China, a rapidly developing country with a rich history and diverse culture. I obtained my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biological Engineering from Tianjin University. During my Master's studies, I worked on two major projects: one investigating the effects of dissolved oxygen on spinosad production in Saccharopolyspora spinosa, and the other developing microbial cell factories for the biosynthesis of pharmacologically relevant triterpenoids - ursolic acid and oleanolic acid.
In 2018, I moved to the Netherlands and pursued PhD in the Bioprocess Engineering Group at Wageningen University & Research, supervised by Prof. Ruud Weusthuis, Prof. Vitor Martins Dos Santos, and Prof. René H. Wijffels. My PhD research focused on engineering Pseudomonas putida KT2440 as a microbial cell factory for sustainable production of medium-chain-length diols, an important building block of the polymer industry.
Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Giovanni Maglia, working on the "Nanopore Protein Sequencing Project". My research focuses on the engineering of biological nanopores, molecular machinery such as unfoldase and peptidase to enhance nanopore sensing and sequencing technologies.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through sports, particularly playing basketball, Ping Pong, and badminton. I also love making new friends, exploring different cultures and foods, and learning bits of various languages.
