Marco van den Noort
Post-Doc
I studied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Groningen. Throughout the two years of my research master's program, I completed two research internships concerning membrane proteins.
For my second internship, I moved to the lab of Professor Bert Poolman to the study single-molecule dynamics of the substrate-binding protein MalE of the bacterial ABC-transport MalFGK2-E.
Following the completion of my master's degree, I stayed at Bert Poolman’s lab to pursue a PhD. During my PhD, I further specialized in single-molecule dynamics of membrane proteins, combining this with various biochemical and microbiological experiments.
As a postdoctoral researcher in Professor Giovanni Maglia's lab, I will utilize nanopores to trap enzymes and investigate their behavior at a single-molecule level.
My main interest lies in biology in the broad sense of the term.
At home, I enjoy brewing beer or fermenting other liquids, gardening, sailing, and reading.
